Glasgow is one of the largest cities of Scotland with a unitary council. Glasgow is situated on the banks of river Clyde formally in the country’s lowlands on the west central. Glaswegian is referred to the people of Glasgow, this is also a local dialect or commonly known as the Glasgow Patter.

The city was intially a royal burgh, and was the Second City of the British Empire. In the Victorian era, it was time honoured as a major Atlantic trading port. The Clyde was the World's most well established shipbuilding centre, building many revolutionary and famous vessels these included the likes of the Cunard liners the Royal Yacht Britannia, Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth.

With an approximate 1.1 million people living in the Greater Glasgow, this is a 15 mile (24 km) radius from the city centre, also identified as the city of Glasgow or the Greater Metropolitan area.

Edinburgh is also known as Scotland’s commercial capital, the City of Glasgow is bustling, as well as a cosmopolitan city. This is the third most popular foreign tourist destination in the UK. The city also boasts of one of UK's largest and the most economically important retail centres outside of London.

It is recommended to visit the Glasgow School of Art, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. You can always take a walk in the footsteps of Charles Rennie Mackintosh at the very famous Mackintosh House. Find out more about the Burrell Collection. Go to Glasgow Harbor and explore one of the last remaining Clydebuilt sailing ships, the one called s.v. Glenlee (1896). For a nice time out go for an Art House Film at the Glasgow Film Theatre. In the night you can always check out the Merchant City for fibulas pubs and exquisite restaurants. Concerts are a plenty at the Celtic Connections.
