Set in the midst of the magnificent countryside of Royal Deeside,
in the shade of Lochnagar is the Balmoral Estate.
Balmoral Castle is currently running as a large mansion located
deep within the Scottish Highlands. This estate was bought by Queen
Victoria's husband Prince Albert, and till date remains as a favourite
summer royal residence.
This piece of scenic beauty was purchased by Queen Victoria in
1848, since then this Estate has become the Scottish Home of the
British Royal Family.
In her daily journals her majesty Queen Victoria described the Balmoral
as her dear paradise in the heart of the highlands.
Every year visitors are welcomed into the ballroom to see an exhibition
of some of the items from the castle. Silverware, porcelain, paintings
and the famous Balmoral tartans can be seen here.
Visitors who are interested to see the Deer Forest are taken mounted
on one of Balmoral's stalking ponies and taken over through the
place by a trek leader.
Your visit is not complete until you shop. You will find a wide
selection in foods, Balmoral whisky, knitwear, a variety in gifts
and many items exclusive to Balmoral. For your convenience there
are also excellent self service cafeterias on the estate itself.
